Sections (C)(3)(F) and (K)(2) of the new rule: These amendments continue the two-hearing process on Zoom. This is time-consuming because courts cannot process and move the cases efficiently when they have to conduct two hearings and all hearings are set on Zoom. If a property has multiple filings, i.e., more than 8-10 cases at a time, this can really affect when the cases are heard. The Supreme Court does not want to bring back in-person court, even for large dockets or larger properties. The Court’s goal is to delay evictions at all costs. This two-hearing Zoom procedure will ensure that cases take at least three months to complete, from filing to writ, if not longer. If you file a lot of cases each month, you would want to oppose these changes.
